ATELIER GRIFFIN is an Art studio in the South of France run by established English Artists Denise and Peter Griffin. They met studying sculpture in London in 1984 and have been working as professional artists eversince, providing bespoke sculptural artworks to an international list of public and private clients. In December 2016 Denise and Peter moved their home and workshop from the UK to Lavaur, a town near Toulouse in Southern France where they continue to produce artworks by commission.
Peter and Denise graduated in Sculpture from the renowned Camberwell School of Art in London in 1987, after which they undertook three years of art training in India learning traditional Indian and Tibetan art practices. This lead into a continuous stream of sculpture commissions which saw them living and working in the USA, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, India & Nepal. In 2000 they eventually settled in the UK, establishing a studio in Dorset in the south of England. In 2016 they moved their home and workshop to the beautiful town of Lavaur in Southern France.
Much of Denise and Peter Griffin’s work is inspired by their many years in Asia and this has lead to many exciting projects around the world. In 1997 The Maitreya Project commissioned Denise and Peter to build the prototype for a huge bronze statue of Buddha Maitreya which will soon begin construction in India. The original life-sized statue will be scaled up to create a 200ft high statue in Kushinagar India. Their other work ranges from public-art projects in city centres to large statues for temples, and commissioned work for private individuals.
